Tobacco Retail Licensing

What is it?

Tobacco Retail Licensing (TRL) controls who can sell tobacco products and where they can be sold. These measures help ensure that there is not an oversaturation of retailers in one area and that vulnerable spaces such as schools and the surrounding areas are not too close to these establishments. Tobacco Free York County Coalition is looking to utilize both TRL and other Point-of-Sale approaches to help make our community as healthy as possible. This includes advocating for policies that would help keep tobacco out of children's and young adults' hands, spreading out the location of tobacco retailers, and having all tobacco-selling establishments licensed to sell those products responsibly.
